Filing a court action against corporate organizations that fail to adhere to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles can serve as a strategic means of enforcing accountability. In recent times, the definition of value in the business world has expanded. Beyond the large profits declared annually, corporate practices now play a key role in determining organizational success. Many companies are adopting ESG standards, but often with a focus on brand representation rather than sustainable practices. This superficial approach has hindered the development of genuine ESG practices, particularly in Nigeria.
